Overview

This course provides advanced training for automotive technicians who want to expand their repair and technical skills to include those of an automotive overhauler. Within the automotive retail, service and repair industry, automotive overhaulers dismantle, repair and reassemble vehicle components to the manufacturer's specifications. These components may include engines, transmissions, final drives, braking, steering and suspension systems and the sector covers the servicing and repair of all vehicles. Due to the level of ability required, the qualification assumes prior knowledge or experience in automotive mechanics. On completion of this qualification, you will be capable of performing skilled operations, routines, methods and procedures, to assume leadership roles and to take accountability for quality of outcomes.

Course Delivery

This qualification is a classroom-based course. To successfully complete this course, you must gain competency in all 10 units.

Entry Requirements

To commence this qualification, you are required to first complete an Automotive Mechanical Certificate III qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency. Each student will undertake a Pre-Enrolment Review before enrolling to help confirm the proposed course is suitable. It will provide valuable information about an individual's existing skills and knowledge, language, literacy and numeracy skills and whether the course will help in achieving learning and/or employment goals.
