Overview

This hairdressing course equips you with the required skills and knowledge to gain employment in the hairdressing industry. You will develop fundamental hairdressing skills and knowledge and gain industry experience by working within SuniTAFE's Hair Salon up to three days a week, offering professional haircare services.

Careers

Post Graduates often work independently and many hairdressers at this level provide technical leadership, training and support to team members. This qualification provides a pathway to work as a senior hairdresser in a salon environment, a freelance session stylist or a technical advisor in product companies.

Pathways

Students often pathway to other higher education courses such as, Certificate III Barbering, Certificate IV in Hairdressing, Diploma of Salon Management or Graduate Certificate of Hairdressing Creative Leadership.

Course Delivery

Students must attend class Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during the first year of study, then Mondays and Tuesdays the following year to complete studies. Students will be required to complete theoretical work at home as well as in class, and are to develop skills and complete practical assessments by providing a variety of professional hair care services on SuniTAFE Hair Salon's clientele.

Entry Requirements

Each student will undertake a Pre-Training Review and online ACER test to confirm course suitability. The Pre-Training Review and online ACER test will provide valuable information about an individual's existing skills and knowledge, language, literacy and numeracy skills and whether the course will help in achieving learning and/or employment goals. Students must achieve required ACER test scores to gain a position within the course.
