This qualification reflects the role of workers who provide individualised support to people within the ageing and community sector.
Personal care worker
Students can pathway into courses such as Certificate IV in Ageing Support, Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance and Diploma of Nursing.
This program will be delivered over a period of 5 months, four days per week, 5 hours per day from 9am to 3pm with a 1 hour lunch break. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. 120 hours of practical placement required as a student on practical placement in a residential organisation must be completed, 5 days per week over 3 weeks full time.
Student must be must be 18 years of age or turning 18 years of age within two months of course commencement. Prior to enrolment, students must obtain and provide evidence of a satisfactory police clearance certificate. Working with children check (only required if completing placement in home and community care). Students must have a current valid level two first aid certificate prior to placement. Booklist Mosbys 3rd or 4th Edition Long Term Caring Textbook. Placement uniform navy or black pants, enclosed duty shoes and SuniTAFE logo embroidered polo shirt. This is arranged with the teacher prior to placement. Each student will undertake a Pre-Training Review to determine individual student needs, their ACSF core skills profile and suitability to this course.
