Overview

Training is delivered to students in their workplace, with additional training sessions every six weeks at SuniTAFE. This qualification reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community based environments. Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery. Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters. At least 120 hours of on the job work experience must be completed.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be currently employed in the Aged care or Home and Community care sector with a Certificate III in Ageing qualification. Applicants are to attend an interview and pre training review and complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy test to determine the suitability of the course. Applicants must be 18 years of age, obtain a Police Clearance Certificate, and Working with Children Check (if completing placement in home and community care) and must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
