Overview

This course provides advanced training for automotive technicians who want to expand their repair and technical skills to include those of an automotive overhauler. Within the automotive retail, service and repair industry, automotive overhaulers dismantle, repair and reassemble vehicle components to the manufacturer's specifications. These components may include engines, transmissions, final drives, braking, steering and suspension systems and the sector covers the servicing and repair of all vehicles. Due to the level of ability required, the qualification assumes prior knowledge or experience in automotive mechanics. On completion of this qualification, you will be capable of performing skilled operations, routines, methods and procedures, to assume leadership roles and to take accountability for quality of outcomes.

Pathways

Further training beyond this qualification include Diploma of Automotive Management and Diploma in Automotive Technology, or other relevant qualifications.

Information for International Students

Students must be at least 18 years old when they commence studies. SuniTAFE operates a 30 hectare commercial horticulture farm at Cardross which is 7 kilometres away from the Mildura campus. Students will undertake training and practical classes at the farm. Students are recommended to purchase work boots for classes on the farm.
